Gayle Boyden Lakey is of counsel to the firm.  With over 20 years of trial and appellate experience Gayle Boyden Lakey serves as of counsel to the firm. She practices at all levels of State court as she prefers to see her clients through the litigation process from start to finish. Ms. Lakey has represented individuals and business clients as lead counsel in all stages of litigation, negotiation and mediation involving various types of disputes. Her experience has allowed her to truly appreciate that most people at some point in their lives will need to consult with an attorney and that litigation is often a necessary part of business. With this in mind, client objectives and cost containment are her guiding principles. Ms. Lakey partners with her clients at all stages of representation to make certain the best choices are made for their individual well beings and their business’ bottom lines.

Ms. Lakey concentrates in the areas of personal injury, negligence, premises liability, workers compensation, debt collection, healthcare transitions and appellate work. Clients have included those in the insurance, grocery, fast food, general retail, trucking and healthcare industries. She also has extensive experience guiding her business clients toward compliance with applicable state and federal laws in highly regulated industries as another means to capitalize on cost containment principles.

Ms. Lakey holds a Juris Doctorate from the University of Memphis and a Bachelor of Science degree from Florida State University. While in law school, she was elected by her peers to student government as well as being named an Associate Justice of the Moot Court Board. She was also 1 of 3 people selected to a team to represent her law school in the Wagner National Moot Court Competition in New York City where her team captured the national championship and she earned the title of best oral advocate. Ms. Lakey is also the recipient of the University of Memphis’ Dean’s Award for trial advocacy awarded her by the Honorable Joe Dailey and bestowed the University’s Joe A. Moore Award for best all around trial and appellate advocate.

Ms. Lakey loves living in Midtown, Memphis and enjoys all the outdoor and music opportunities Midtown affords. She has served multiple terms on the board of directors for Hands on Memphis as well as the Memphis Bar Association, (YLD).
